IWM London’s library under threat

photo

Hot on the heels of the Imperial War Museum London’s £40m refit, completed in time for its 19 July reopening, is a worrying tale.

It seems that there’s a budgetary issue with the museum, and unless there’s some kind of volte-face, redundancies will be the order of the day, with facilities such as its priceless library due to close.

This would be a grievous loss, because that library has been built up over 97 years and would be irreplaceable. This isn’t just the books you see on the shelves and tables in the ‘Explore History’ part of the museum, but also the Research Room collection which is much more extensive and detailed.
