Spitfire PR.XI: PL893

This has been put forward as a third possible serial number for the plane that Brodby crashed in, based on its appearance in the 16 Squadron ‘Records Of Events’ (Form 541) just prior to that date.

Will ask the RAF Museum London for a scan of its Movement Card, but because they’re really busy fielding many similar enquiries, it’s likely to be a while before they’re able to respond. In the meantime, here’s a transcription of the card to be going on with, on the website ‘avialogs’…

If this turned out to be accurate, then we’d have a similar situation to that of PL896. While waiting for the Movement Card scan, will chase PL893 in the 683 Squadron Operations Record Books.

If research was straightforward, would it be this much fun?
