98 Squadron Mitchell Mk.II

(Photo RAF/IWM)

This is the same model of aircraft as FW194 (VO-N) and FW211 (VO-Y), and, as they did, flew for 98 Squadron from Dunsfold (currently home to the Top Gear race track, the Reg Day Memorial Museum and Wings & Wheels, amongst others). This one, FV985 (VO-S), is pictured returning from a ‘Noball’ operation against ‘V’-missile sites in northern France on 19 April 1944.
