Bruce Llewellyn Williams (of FW194)’s headstone

Bruce Llewellyn Williams  aged 21 years

He succeeded in leaving the plane, but was shot as he descended by parachute. He was initially buried in his parachute at significant personal risk by teenager Fritz Baars, when he saw that Bruce’s body had just been left lying there, and years later Bruce’s remains were reinterred at Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery, where Fritz continues to visit the grave. As the remains of more military personnel continue to be discovered even 70 years later, this graveyard continues to fill. Here’s his entry on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website…
